Getting started
What counts as a moment?
Anything you did, handled, learned, or want to remember. Big or small — a sentence is enough. There's no category to pick and no field to fill in.
Do I need an account?
Yes — sign in with Apple or Google. That's what lets your moments sync and survive losing your phone.
Capturing moments
How do I capture?
Type into the field on Home, or tap the blue button in the middle of the bottom bar. Save closes the sheet immediately — your moment is already saved.
What does “Organizing…” mean?
Your moment is saved. Proof is writing a short title and picking an area in the background. Your own words never change, and the title appears in place when it's ready.
It said organizing didn't finish.
Your words are kept as the title and nothing is lost. Open the moment and try again when you have a connection.
I lost connection while capturing.
Nothing is lost. Moments are written to your phone before anything is sent, and they sync when you're back online.
Media and permissions
How do I add a photo, video or voice note?
Attachments are part of Proof Plus. In the capture sheet, or on any moment, choose Voice, Photo or Video.
Why is Proof asking for camera or microphone access?
Only at the moment you use that feature — never in the background. If you decline, that one feature won't work and everything else is unaffected.
I declined by mistake.
iOS Settings → Proof, and turn the permission back on.
My attachment didn't upload.
The moment is still saved and the file is still on your phone — Proof never deletes it. Open the moment and tap Retry.
Recaps
When do recaps arrive?
Weekly recaps appear after a complete week — Monday to Sunday, in your timezone. Monthly recaps appear at the end of a calendar month. Recaps are part of Proof Plus.
Can I edit a recap?
No. Recaps are read-only on purpose — something to notice, not a task to complete.
Can I share one?
Yes. Monthly recaps can be shared as an image or a PDF. Your private notes are never included.
Work Summary
How do I use it?
Mark a moment's area as Work, then open Proof → Work tools. Pick a date range and generate a short, factual summary built only from your Work moments. It's part of Proof Plus.
It says to add more moments.
One Work moment is enough to generate, but the summary gets more useful with a few.
Plans and billing
What's in the Free plan?
3 text moments a day, browsing and searching everything you've saved, and AI organization.
What does Plus add?
Unlimited moments; voice, photo and video; weekly and monthly recaps; and Work Summary.
What does it cost?
$7.99 a month, or $49.99 a year — about $4.17 a month, charged as one annual payment. It renews automatically until you cancel.
How do I restore a purchase?
Tap Restore purchases on the paywall, or You → Manage subscription. Your subscription follows your Apple ID.
How do I cancel?
In Apple subscription settings, or Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Proof. You keep Plus until the end of the period you've paid for.
I deleted the app — am I still being charged?
Probably yes. Deleting the app, and deleting your Proof account, do not cancel an Apple subscription. You have to cancel it with Apple.
I want a refund.
Apple handles App Store refunds, not us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Proof itself went wrong, email us and we'll help.
Privacy and your data
How do I delete my account?
You → Delete account. You'll sign in again to confirm, then everything — moments, attachments, profile — is permanently removed. It can't be undone.
Can I get a copy of my data?
Email support@tryproof.app and we'll send you a machine-readable export.
Who can see my moments?
Nothing you save is public. Access is limited to your account and the providers needed to run Proof, all listed in the Privacy Policy.
Is my content used to train AI?
Moment text is sent to OpenAI to generate a title and an area. Their API terms state API data isn't used to train their models by default, and we haven't opted in. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
How do I turn off the weekly reminder?
You → Weekly recap reminder, or revoke notification permission in iOS Settings.
